Mediation — both professional and peer — is currently one of the proven and effective tools for resolving conflicts in the school environment. It promotes dialogue, empathy, responsibility, and the skills to resolve disputes constructively. Peer mediation also involves the students themselves in the process, thereby promoting participation, self-regulation, and a community culture of respect and understanding. Research — both at home and abroad — shows a high percentage of successfully resolved conflicts, improved interpersonal relationships, and a positive impact on the school climate.
